With this photo I didn't plan on getting the refracted rays of the sun, but I like the effect. I wanted to get the leaf more in focus, but the result, a somewhat faded looking indistinct image, is also something I like. So this was kind of an unintentional photo.

Scot, I love your leaf and flower pictures! They are artistic from the viewpoint of light and composition but not at the expense of obscuring the flower or leaf structure. It would sure be nice if I could use them in my presentation when I finish my work on maple-beech forests in western New York. Only problem is, I don't think this is a sugar maple.
